Spotlight: Fanny Chapman Pool

Summer will soon be here and with the warmer weather comes swimming at Fanny Chapman Pool. The much-anticipated season will feature many of the usual activities such as learning to swim; competing on the swim and dive teams; and swimming for recreation and exercise.

The season also brings some changes and opportunities.  Changes include welcoming the new pool manager, Drew Sterner.

Drew takes over from long-time pool manager, Jim Foster, who successfully guided the pool complex for the last 17 years. Drew brings to Fanny Chapman 10 years of managerial experience honing his skills at the Bucks Club pool.

Drew is also a life-long resident of Doylestown with strong ties to Fanny Chapman. New opportunities dovetail with the pool’s long history.

Fanny Chapman begins its 96th year in 2023 with its 100-year anniversary soon on the horizon. Fanny Chapman has implemented a Legacy Program which seeks memorials, bequests, and gift funds for Fanny Chapman Pool Charitable Donations.

The purpose of the Legacy Program is to maintain the vision of Mr. and Mrs. William Mercer of a public swimming pool that was named for William Mercer’s favorite aunt, Fanny Chapman. The pool today is financially independent and operates without any tax dollars.

It is a community investment and after 100 years of use is necessary to create a fund whose primary purpose is to meet the near and long term needs of the pool facilities and to assist in support of its programs and missions.

To donate to the Legacy Fund or for further information, please contact Drew Sterner at poolmanager@doylestownborough.net; visit the website; or see the newsletter.
