When should I replace my siding?

Siding is your home’s last defense against damaging weather and pests. It is also the most noticeable part of your home. When it looks bad it is also performing badly. Here are 5 signs that it’s time to replace your siding.

Excessive Maintenance: When your siding is wearing out the maintenance cycle is reduced. That means you are paying more often to repair your siding. Although replacing your siding is costly it will save you a lot more money in the long run and allow you more time for other projects.

Loose or Missing Siding: Siding that is falling off the house or missing can no longer protect the underlying structure. Moisture and pests can get to the primary structure causing significant damage.

Rotted Siding: Wood siding that is exposed to life’s harsh weather all day, every day can start to wear down. Once that happens your home is susceptible to damage and animal infestation. Both of which can cause an unsightly appearance as well as damage.

Color Fading:  Although not always noticeable from the street you may find that your siding is being bleached by the sun. This can lead to irregular color patterns, spotty patches, faded sections compared to adjacent areas. This makes your home look older than it may be and can lower property values and cause delays in the sale of your home just from appearance.

Buckled, Cracked, Sagging and Warped Siding: These things may damage that curb appeal of your home more than anything else. Little areas of damage left unattended lead to large concerns and costly repairs.

Your siding is the focal point of your home and its primary defense against Mother Nature. Don’t wait – replace your siding on your home before it’s too late.
