The Roosevelt Mall Flea Market has been in existence since the mid 70’s in the lower lot along Cottman Avenue in front of the mall. It closed in 2002 but when Brixmor Properties took over managing the mall in 2015 the first thing shoppers asked was, “Can you please bring the Flea Market back to Cottman Avenue?”
They found Phila Flea Markets, LLC that organizes antique and vintage flea markets in various Center City neighborhoods that’s been operating since 1985, and asked if they’d like to ignite the spark and revive the former Roosevelt Mall Flea Market.
The answer was “Yes!” and it didn’t take much and that spark exploded on July 4th weekend, 2015. The Roosevelt Mall Flea Market has been a staple in the Rhawnhust and Mayfair neighborhoods operating every Sunday at Roosevelt Boulevard and Cottman Avenue for the past eight years.
However, all good things must come to an end. Just in the past month of April, operators of the Flea Market were notified by Brixmor that major construction and total renovations of the entire mall will commence very soon and the 2023 Flea Market season at Roosevelt came to a screeching halt!
In fact, additional retail stores are being built on top of the original footprint of the Flea Market. Fast forward a month later in early May, Phila Flea Markets has secured a new home to re-locate The Roosevelt Mall Flea Market.
The new location is Liberty Plaza in The Franklin Mills complex just off Knights Road. Located at Liberty Bell Boulevard and Franklin Mills Boulevard by the CVS and Burger King.
You may remember this plaza where the original 24-hour Walmart was before it moved across the way to Philadelphia Mills. The Franklin Mills Flea Market will operate every Sunday starting May 28th, 8:00am – 4:00pm through November.
