How do I know which window treatment to use? Please help!

submitted by Made In The Shade

Choosing between different window treatments is a matter of taste. It’s good to be familiar with the functional differences of all available options for your windows and overall interior design.

BASICS OF BLINDS – Composed of slats that can be tilted for privacy. Slats can also be used to vary the amount of light entering a room. Wood, Faux-Wood, Mini Blinds, and Vertical Blinds are the most popular. We have wood and faux-wood blinds, with no route holes for the cord, this offers a cleaner look, improved privacy, and more light control than traditional blinds. Choose from: smooth, for a clean aesthetic; textured, for a softer, fabric-like look; embossed and wood-like, for a stylish touch. Blinds match any decor style. Because of their low maintenance qualities, they are perfect for kitchens and bathrooms.

ESSENTIALS OF SHADES – Consisting of fabric that pulls up and down with a cord, cordless lift system, or motorization. Unlike blinds, shades are solid fabric rather than slats. There’s a style of shade to suit every decorating theme. Along with the expected functions of blocking out light and providing privacy, shades are a simple way to add some color, texture, and pattern to your room. In addition, you can add style by topping your shades with a valance or cornice.  Some popular shades are Roller Shades, Roman Shades, Dual Shades, and Cellular Shades.

STANDARDS OF SHUTTERS – Made of horizontal louvers built around vertical stiles and horizontal rails.  Shutters can have a variety of frame styles.  We carry wood and composite shutters and even waterproof shutters for showers.   Shutters are easy to clean, making them perfect for messy and high-traffic areas; they are beautiful in both modern and traditional homes.  We even have motorized shutters for hard-to-reach areas.
