Morrisville-Yardley Area Rotary Club highlights

The community support of the club’s recent Gourmet Breakfast at the Morrisville United Methodist Church was very much appreciated.

The proceeds help support a number of local and global service projects, from sending selected members of the Rotary-sponsored Morrisville High School Leadership Academy, to the Rotary District’s Camp Neidig leadership development program, to its pure water project to help people in Peru, to support of Rotaplast (cleft palate and lip surgeries), ShelterBox (emergency shelter and supplies), and global eradication of Polio.

It should be noted that five young ladies from the Leadership Academy were of great help with the Gourmet Breakfast: Jenna Souyack, Emily Meyer, Casey Hollopeter, Jessica Martin and Cassidy Shelmelia.

Thanks, girls!

To hear Hal Long talk about the organization and upcoming events, see the video below:

The club again honored the Boy Scout leaders in the area with its annual appreciation dinner. Magne Gundersen, CEO of the Bucks County Council of the Boy Scouts of America, summarized the history and structure of the 102-year-old organization. Approximately 5400 youth within the council boundaries were served the past year and in 2010 there were 177 new Eagle Scouts. Club President Denny Lanctot presented a certificate of appreciation to those representing the council.
