Celebrate 300 years of history with Wrightstown Quakers

Wrightstown Friends Meeting is thrilled to invite the community to its 300-year anniversary celebration, set to take place on May 4th, from 11:00am to 4:00pm, rain or shine, at 535 Durham Road, Newtown.

This milestone event honors three centuries of continuous care and use of a property steeped in history and recognized on the National Register of Historic Places since October 1975.

The day will be filled with engaging activities suitable for all ages, including performances by the Bucks County Folk Song Society, the enchanting Give and Take Jugglers, and the band Fools and Prophets.

Attendees will have the unique opportunity to delve into the Meeting’s rich history through an expansive display, and explore the significance of the Meetinghouse, Cemetery, and ancient trees through guided tours.

Special guest, Bartlett arborist Kevin Juchno, will share fascinating stories about the property’s trees.

A highlight of the celebration will be the chance to meet “Edward Hicks,” the renowned painter famous for “The Peaceable Kingdom,” who was a member of the Wrightstown Quaker community from 1814-1820.

This immersive experience will bring history to life, connecting attendees with the vibrant past of the Wrightstown Friends Meeting.m The event is free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring lawn chairs to enjoy the day’s festivities in comfort.
