College Prep Night Hosted by: Senator Santarsiero, Reps. Brennan & Munroe on May 2nd @ Central Bucks West High School/Cafeteria
May 2 @ 7:00 pm

BUCKS COUNTY – State Senator Steve Santarsiero (D-10), along with Representatives Tim Brennan (D-29) and Brian Munroe (D-) announced today they will be hosting College Prep Night on Thursday, May 2nd to help area students and families prepare for college savings, planning and admissions.

The free event will be held at Central Bucks West High School in the cafeteria beginning at 7pm and is open to all students, parents and families in Bucks County.

“I’ve been hosting a college financial planning program since my time in the state House, and I’m excited to once again be connecting parents and students to state resources to help prepare for post-secondary education,” said Senator Santarsiero.  “College Prep Night offers a unique view into planning, saving and applying to college, with the discussion led by experts from PHEAA and PA Department of Treasury, along with admissions consultant Francine Block.”

The event will be an interactive panel discussion, during which speakers will answer audience questions.  Topics of discussion will include financial aid and scholarships, the new FAFSA form, 529 savings accounts and finding the right school for your student.

Francine Block, President of American College Admissions Consultants said of the changing landscape of college admissions, “Well-rounded is no longer the key ingredient for college admission. Being pointy might make your application go a lot further during the admission reading cycle.”

“A lot has changed in the last few years, especially when it comes to what colleges are looking for in a student’s applications and how financial aid applications are completed,” continued Sen. Santarsiero.  “College Prep Night is designed to ensure students and parents have the most up-to-date information at their fingertips when they’re planning for their student’s future.”

Registration is available at www.senatorstevesantarsiero.com/collegeprepnight.

Red Cross Community Blood Drive @ Lutheran Church of the Resurrection
May 9 @ 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm

A community blood drive will be hosted by Lutheran Church of the Resurrection with the American Red Cross on May 9, 2024, from 2 PM to 7 PM.

Appointments to donate can be made through your phone app or at https://www.redcrossblood.org.html/find-drive

Blood is routinely transfused to patients with cancer and other diseases, premature babies, organ transplant recipients and trauma victims. Donors of all blood types are needed. The short amount of time it takes to donate can mean a lifetime to a patient with a serious condition.

“Hosting a blood drive coincides with our core values of giving back to the community,” said Deacon Nellie Plummer, Council President. “Eligible donors have the ability to help save the life of someone who could be a member of the congregation, a neighbor, or a loved one.”

We invite the community and blood donors to also visit our Boutique Thrift Shop, and to enjoy homemade goodies from our bake sale that day. Lutheran Church of the Resurrection welcomes all individuals regardless of race, sex, gender identification, sexual orientation, economic status, age, disability, or family make-up.

The SAR thanks the Park staff and the Friends of Washington Crossing Historic Park for the opportunity to hold this meeting in the auditorium.
