On Wednesday May 24, two graduating seniors each received $1,000 from the Central Bucks-Central Bucks High School West Hall of Fame Committee (CBW HOF) at the school’s annual awards ceremony. Henry Hunt, CB West Athletic Director and HOF Board Member presented the scholarships to Claire Dalsass of Furlong and Trey Reed of Doylestown.
The students were selected on the merits of their essays on the role of athletics in their lives. As the winners of HOF’s essay contest, each graduate will use the award toward their college expenses.
This was HOF’s 18th annual scholarship award to an outstanding male and female athlete upon their graduation. Claire Dalsass competed in Cross Country and Track & Fields, sports where running was a huge part of her life.
She writes, “Track and Cross Country are structured to be an individual sport…but I am representing and earning points for my team. I hope to use these qualities…to help guide me in my athletic and academic career.” In the fall, Claire will enter Loyola University in Baltimore, Maryland.
Trey Reed, who will enter Penn State this fall, competed in Basketball.
When a knee injury required surgery and nine months of rehab and physical therapy, writes Trey, “I had great teammates and coaches. They checked on me and would help…with my physical therapy. My role on the team was to do the ‘dirty work,’ as Coach Sherman would say. I was named Varsity Team Captain in my Senior year where West Basketball taught me how to be a leader, work hard, and build meaningful relationships on and off the court.”
The Hall of Fame was established for the purpose of recognizing CB-CB High School West Alumni whose athletic participation resulted in exemplary and record-holding accomplishments. The 22nd Hall of Fame Induction ceremony is on hiatus until the fall of 2024.
