Open to ALL community members. One of America’s first and best-known primitive artists is Edward Hicks. Did you know that he was born in what is now the Langhorne Coffee House, that he learned his craft painting wagons in a shed behind the Langhorne Hotel, and that he was married at the Middletown Friends Meetinghouse? The paintings of Edward Hicks reflect an idealism of peace and harmony between races of people and all of God’s creatures that resonates today. On April 23, 2022, Langhorne Council for the Arts will host a celebration of Langhorne’s most famous son. Some of the plans include an actor portraying Hicks, a pop-up gallery of his work, a “Peaceable Kingdom” petting zoo, period music and games, and art activities for all ages. Come out and share ideas on how to make this a fun, informative, and engaging celebration for all! Can’t make the first meeting? Email LanghorneArtsEvents@gmail.com to become part of our planning committee!
