Spotlight: Crooked Billet History Fair

The Crooked Billet History Fair takes place Saturday, April 29th, from 10:00am to 3:00pm, at the Pennypack Community Center on Spring Lane in Hatboro. And it’s absolutely free with free parking on the grounds and nearby.

The event brings together, in one place, historical societies and similar organizations from all around Montgomery and Bucks Counties. It’s a special opportunity for you to see how many groups are dedicated to showcasing our area’s past and preserving it for future generations.

It’s also a great way to check out the groups and see if you’d like to get involved.  The groups will present displays of artifacts and other items connected to our shared history.

There will be maps, charts, deeds, and other documents that you can examine and maybe even find your own backyard on a map of colonial Pennsylvania. There will also be a puppet show spotlighting our history, an old-fashioned fire truck from Hatboro’s Enterprise Fire Company, and fascinating and surprising presentations done by the historical societies throughout the day.

You can ask questions, get answers, and maybe even find a group that fits your interests. There are groups dedicated to individual communities and regions, societies that concentrate on local industries or specific periods in history, even groups that re-enact encampments and engagements from the Revolutionary and Civil Wars.

The Crooked Billet History Fair is also a gold mine for genealogists. Members of the groups can give you tips on researching your family tree and help you trace your ancestors.

If you’ve ever wondered about your hometown’s history, or wondered about the name of a street in your area, the Crooked Billet History Fair is the place for you.
