Picnic In The Garden at Friends Village featuring presenters, music, and more!

On Saturday, April 29th, Friends Village will host “Picnic In The Garden,” a fundraising event that benefits its residents and programs. This fun filled day will feature presentations by local experts in the fields of botanical art, native plants and flower arranging, as well as live music, handcrafted items for sale, and more!

Included in the lineup of speakers are Bucks County botanical artist, Carol Ashton-Hergenhan, presenting “The History of Botanical Art,” Dr. Lynnette Saunders, ecologist and Master Watershed Steward presenting “Native Plants for Birds,” Stommy Blauth, director of the Philadelphia Butterfly Pavilion presenting “How Do You Attract Butterflies and Other Pollinators to Your Yard?” and Heather Towne, certified floral designer and owner of Flowers by Jennie Lynne presenting “What To Do With Your Store Bought Bouquet.”

Live music will be performed by local bluegrass and fun band, Goose Creek Pioneers. There will be handcrafted items and goodies for sale, with a complimentary lunch for anyone purchasing a ticket. Friends Village is an intentional community for older adults across two beautiful campuses in historic Newtown.

“Picnic In The Garden” will be hosted at its Styer campus at 331 Lower Dolington Road, in Newtown.

In continuous operation for more than 125 years, Friends Village bases its approach on the practice of positive aging with the belief that opportunities for growth occur at any age. It aims to serve middle income older adults, those who cannot afford the costs of high-end community living yet earn too little to qualify for meaningful financial assistance as they age.

Friends Village is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. All proceeds from ticket sales and a portion of other sales will go to enriching the lives of its residents through meaningful activities and programs.

Tickets are $20 per person in advance, or $30 at the door. Children under age 13 are $10. To take advantage of advanced pricing, purchase your tickets by Wednesday, April 26th.

Buy your tickets online at www.friends-village.org/picnic, or contact Courtney Slensky at 215-968-3346 ext. 105, or via e-mail at CSlensky@friends-village.org.
