    Canal Clean-Up Day is April 1st

    April 1st is Canal Clean-Up Day at the Delaware Canal State Park.

    The Friends of the Delaware Canal sponsor this annual event to encourage volunteers to clear trash, debris, and brush from the historic waterway and towpath that runs from Bristol to Easton.        

    Canal Clean-Up Day activities will begin at 9:00am and end at noon.

    Volunteers will be working along the Canal’s entire 58.9-mile length.

    Volunteers are especially needed in the areas listed below.

    Anyone who wants to participate can choose a location and sign-up online at https://www.fodc.org/event/canal-clean-up-day-2023/ or contact the Friends at friends@fodc.org.

     

    *Bristol Borough – Riverfront Park to Lagoon Park;

    *Bristol Borough – Lagoon Park to Green Lane; 

    *Bristol Twp. – Green Lane to Edgely;

    *Bristol Twp. – Edgley to Levittown Shopping Center;  

    *Falls Twp. – Levittown Shopping Center to Mill Creek Road;

    *Falls Twp. – Wheatsheaf Road to Tyburn;

    *Falls Twp. – Tyburn Road to RR obstruction;

    *Falls Twp. /Morrisville – RR obstruction to Bridge Street;

    *Falls Twp. /Morrisville – Bridge Street to East Maple;

    *Morrisville – Ferry Road to Black Rock;

    *Lower Makefield/Yardley – Black Rock Road to Afton Avenue;

    *New Hope Borough – Lock 9 to Bridge Street;

    *New Hope Borough – Bridge Street to Rabbit Run;

    *Solebury Twp. – Rabbit Run to Phillips’ Mill;

    *Solebury Twp. – Virginia Forrest to Lock 12;

    *Williams Twp. – Wy-Hit-Tuk Park to Easton.

     

    Gloves, waterproof foot gear, long-handled rakes, grabbing implements, and branch snippers are useful tools to bring along to Canal Clean-Up Day.

    Trash bags can be provided.
