Neshaminy Valley Music Theatre presents The Addams Family March 25th, 26th and 31st, and April 1st and 2nd at Neshaminy High School, 2001 Old Lincoln Highway, Langhorne, Friday’s at 8:00pm, Saturdays at 3:00 and 8:00pm, and Sundays at 3:00pm. The production is directed/choreographed by Barrymore Award-nominated Stephen Casey.
The Addams Family is based on Charles’ Addams cartoons and the popular 1960s television show, with book by Rick Elice and Marshall Brickman, music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa. In the kooky, upside-down world of the Addamses, this quirky family still has to deal with many of the same challenges faced by any other family: the Addams kids are growing up.
Morticia and Gomez’s daughter Wednesday has fallen in love with Lucas Beineke, a sweet boy from a normal, respectable Ohio family. Wednesday has invited the Beinekes to the Addams home for dinner.
In one fateful, hilarious night, secrets are disclosed, relationships are tested, and the Addams family must face up to the one horrible thing they’ve managed to avoid for generations: change. There have been numerous adaptations over the years including live action and animated television series and films, a current Netflix spin-off series (Wednesday), and video games.
The musical is the first stage show based on the characters and opened on Broadway in 2010.
NVMT, founded in 1956, has produced a musical annually to raise funds for scholarships to Neshaminy High seniors who plan to study the arts – over $165,000 awarded to date. Tickets are $26 adults, $24 seniors, and $20 youth, purchased in advance; additional $2 at the door. Any ticket is good for any seat, any show date/time.
Group rates also available. For more information visit nvmt.org, e-mail nvmt@verizon.net, or call 267-733-8876.
