Friends Village is an intentional community for older adults across two beautiful campuses in historic Newtown. In continuous operation for more than 125 years, it bases its approach on the practice of positive aging with the belief that opportunities for growth occur at any age.
A 2019 study by conducted by the nonpartisan and objective research organization NORC at the University of Chicago discovered that 2029, 54% of older adults of middle income will be unable to afford the housing and support they need, even if they commit all of their financial resources to this endeavor.
For the last 125 years, Friends Village has provided accessibly priced housing and services to older adults of this income segment; those who cannot afford luxury senior living communities yet earn too much to qualify for meaningful financial assistance as they age.
