Spotlight: Bucks County Academy of Fencing

Fencing is a sport many people look on with fascination, but never actually consider trying. Consider it.

It’s a sport that can be done at any age, so newcomers can ‘jump in’ at any time of life. It’s great for seniors, who finally have the time to devote to a new hobby or activity, as well as younger people looking for a sport they can be passionate about.

It’s a sport for everyone; all ages and sizes can fence, unlike other sports, where size might be a factor in success. Fencers come in all shapes, sizes and ages.  To be successful in fencing, all you need is an interest and a willingness to learn. Fencing can be for recreation or competitive; it’s up to the fencer to decide.

Fencing improves strength, agility, balance, confidence, reflexes and mental acumen. It’s also a great way to meet new people.

If fencing sounds intriguing but you’re not sure if you’re going to like it, the Bucks County Academy of Fencing has the perfect solution for you. Their ‘Taste of Fencing’ program allows participants to give fencing a try without a long-term commitment.

For $125, you will receive a 60-minute class once a week for three weeks. The academy will provide all equipment and participants receive a fencing glove that is theirs to keep.

There is no obligation to continue lessons so there is nothing to lose and plenty to gain by giving the program a try.

BCAF is located at 287 South Main Street in Lambertville.
