Charles “Chip” Huffman, a resident of Feasterville-Trevose, recently had his wish to have an accessibility ramp installed at his home granted, thanks to a collaboration between national nonprofit Twilight Wish Foundation, Fox Rehabilitation and Amramp.
Chip, 76, is a Navy veteran and has multiple medical issues including losing strength in his arms and legs due to nerve damage. He also recently fell and broke his ankle, making walking extremely difficult, despite his hard work at trying to improve his mobility and independence, according to his physical therapist, Lauren Dillon, who nominated him.
Chip relies on a wheelchair to get in and out of his home safely. His wife, Lois, also relies on a wheelchair to get around as she recently fractured her hip and had surgery. Although their daughter, Kristy, lives with them, she is currently battling breast cancer.
Having an accessibility ramp will greatly improve their quality of life. Thanks to a generous donor, Chip’s wish was granted on November 14th. Thanks also to Amramp for discounting the cost of the ramp installation.
