Bucks County residents once again can enroll in an eight-week mindfulness course offered at The Prancing Peacock Yoga Studio on Stony Hill Road in Yardley. It begins January 9th, 2023, and reduced tuition pricing is available to participants registering by December 15th.
The course is called Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and it’s taught by Brandon Lewin, a Qualified MBSR Teacher, of Morrisville who runs Ease and Lightness Mindfulness. MBSR is currently offered in over 720 medical centers and clinics in the US, and many more internationally.
When MBSR was developed in the 1970s one of the intentions was to create a protocol that could be supported by scientific research. Thousands of studies on the effects of the program have been published in medical journals over the years.
A November 2022 study on anxiety in JAMA Psychiatry shows MBSR works as well as the popular anti-anxiety medication Lexapro. Scientists compared patients who took MBSR to patients who took escitalopram, the generic name of the widely prescribed and well- studied anxiety drug Lexapro.
They found that both interventions worked equally well in reducing debilitating anxiety symptoms. Visit prancingpeacock.com to register or easeandlightness.com for more information. You may also call 609.903.3363.
