Stroll past the storefront of Nothing Bundt Cakes of Newtown at 2838 S. Eagle Road. The irresistible baking aroma will draw you into the shop, where friendly staff will welcome you. Pick a flavor – one of 10 or more – and buy yourself a “Bundtini,” a small cake just for you, or a ”Bundtlet” for you and a friend. You will delight both in the flavor and light-and-airy texture.
You’ll want to take one home to surprise and treat your family. And you’ll want to pre-order one or more for Thanksgiving and Christmas – for a holiday feast or to give as gifts. An 8-inch Bundt serves eight; 10-inch serves eighteen.
Decision time. Pumpkin spice is a natural for Thanksgiving, but then there’s lemon, chocolate chocolate chip, red velvet, carrot, snickerdoodle, white chocolate raspberry, strawberries and cream, confetti, classic vanilla or gluten-free chocolate chip, as well as other rotating selections. The bakers and ovens are busy 6 days a week.
Each cake can be topped with butter cream cheese icing (or un-frosted), and can be decorated one of 50+ ways! Football theme? Baby shower? Piece of cake.
There’s more. The shop also offers an assortment of table-top gift items, such as serving dishes, dessert plates, candles, mugs and so on.
The bakery celebrates its fifth anniversary this month, and they will be opening their second location in November at 1431 Old York Road in Abington. Owner Roxanne Fitzgerald embraced the concept and the community-focused values of the company and built the bakery into a Newtown institution, conquering the challenges of expanding a business during a pandemic.
“People come to our bakery for the experience as well as the beauty and taste of our cakes,” Roxanne says. “I never get tired of hearing anybody say, ‘I’m not a cake person, but I love your cakes!’”
