An easy way to show support
Thirty-nine youth artists from Bucks County have joined together to create one collaborative painting, titled “Sunflowers for Ukraine,” in an effort to raise money for the refugee children who recently arrived in the area and who will be their new classmates this fall. Each sunflower petal was painted by a local student to show their support. The colors are vibrant and uplifting, showing a bouquet of sunflowers in a blue glass vase with an impressionistic illustration of the Ukrainian flag in the background. As a fundraiser, 11″ x 14″ posters of the painting which read “Peace, Love, & Hope for Ukraine” are available for purchase for $15 at 2 South State Street in Newtown throughout the summer while supplies last. Through the Newtown Rotary C.A.R.E.S. program, 100% of proceeds benefit the Ukrainian refugee students.
Many people want to show that they stand with Ukraine and want to help out, but just aren’t sure how to do that. The posters are an easy way for people to do both. Hanging the posters framed or unframed in a home, business, office space, restaurant, or dorm room is a nice way to show support, and at the same time the purchase of the posters helps the Ukrainian refugee children new to our area.
Every student can relate to the thought of being nervous about going to a new school, but the Ukrainian children have been through the traumatic experience of having to leave their homes and their country, and leave their fathers behind. They arrived here with literally nothing. With that in mind, all of the young artists were extremely compassionate and happy to be able to help with the charity painting
