United Way of Bucks County met its fundraising goal for Bucks Knocks Out Hunger, its annual hunger-fighting initiative, thanks to a donation of $10,813 from the Foundations Community Partnership Board of Directors.
As of the middle of July, United Way was still short of its goal to raise $110,000 for food support in Bucks County. When the board of directors at Foundations Community Partnership (FCP) learned of the deficit, they stepped in to cover the gap.
“We are proud to join so many in helping the United Way bring its community-driven BKO Hunger campaign to a successful conclusion,” said Abigail Halloran, Chair of FCP’s Board of Directors. “This collective generosity comes at a crucial time to help our most vulnerable neighbors with their most basic needs.”
FCP is a non-profit, private grant-making foundation established to support the needs of children, young adults, and families in Bucks County. The organization provides grants, scholarships, professional development, and service-learning opportunities through collaborative partnerships.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the support of Foundations Community Partnership,” said Tim Philpot, Director of Health at United Way of Bucks County. “Getting things done in Bucks County is a team effort. Lately, we’ve seen an increased need in our community. Now that we’ve met our goal, we can ensure that our neighbors are both fed today and healthy tomorrow.”
Funds raised for BKO Hunger provide nutritious options like fresh produce, eggs, and dairy to local pantries, senior centers, and Fresh Connect.
The FCP team also participated in the BKO Hunger meal-packing event, which took place on June 17th at Neshaminy Mall. Volunteers packed roughly 100,000 shelf-stable meals for food pantries county-wide, including United Way’s HELP Center.
