There is a slight change to the library hours for the summer. They will not be open on Sunday again until September 11th, at 1:00pm.
The Friends of the Free Library of Northampton Township are sponsoring two programs for adults this month.
The Second Saturday programs continue on Saturday, August 13th at 2:00pm, when Barry Jacobsen presents Your Show of Shows, Part 2. This presentation will include original kinescopes from “Your Show of Shows,” which are some of the funniest comedy sketches from that memorable television show.
There will also be an extra program sponsored by the Friends this month. Originally scheduled in March, Ken Serfass returns to the library on Saturday, August 27th at 2:00pm to present Lee’s Surrender 1865. In this program, you will meet Ulysses S. Grant who will share some of the inner workings that led to the momentous day when Lee surrendered. You will also hear some notable anecdotes from their meeting itself and the time after its conclusion.
One of the unique things about the library is that we feature a local artist each month. They display their work on the “Artist Wall” and in one of our showcases. This year, we have had exhibits of photographs and another with vintage post cards. Pastels are the medium for our featured artist this month.
In the coming months, we feature artists who work with oils and colored pencils. Later this year, you can see images created with plaster castings using both natural materials and man-made materials.
Most of the artists offer some of their artwork for sale. The library receives a small portion of each sale as a donation.
We look forward to seeing you at the library!
