CHECK OUT THE NEW BUCKSBLOGSPOT. HELP FOR BUCKS COUNTY BUSINESSES AND ECONOMIC RECOVERY – BUCKSBLOGSPOT

    (Nonprofit) Spotlight: Good Friends, Inc.

Good Friends, Inc. is a state licensed and nationally certified (CARF) residential treatment program for adult men recovering from substance dependency.

Since its inception in 1977, Good Friends, Inc. has maintained the highest standard for its treatment services.

As a result, the agency has been called a model within its scope of business and one of the leaders in the provision of halfway house treatment in the state.

Community members who have not had a chance to interact with us may not know about our services.

Our clients have described their experiences in writing: “Staff was extremely intelligent and receptive to my needs”; “My counselor was probing and aware of when I was struggling”; and, “Staff went beyond to make you feel welcome and was willing to help any way they could in any matter. It was the best program I have ever been in and would recommend it to anybody”.

Good Friends, Inc. is one of only two halfway houses in Bucks County and the only one admitting males.

Executive Director Ted Millard has noted, “Sometimes the term halfway house is confused with another term, recovery house. As a Past President of the Pennsylvania Halfway House Association I can attest to the numerous phone calls my counterparts and I have received from people looking for a bed in a recovery house or thinking we are an arm of the criminal justice system as a program for inmates leaving prison. What community members want in a recovery house that springs up in their neighborhood, things such as a licensed program, quality treatment, safety and accountability, those are all components of our halfway house program.”
