It’s so easy to fall into the trappings of negative discourse. We all have made the error of a momentary misstep, a word or a phrase that can’t be taken back, that results in hurt feelings, or worse.
It is my wish for 2022 that we experience a return to civility. We are all doing the best that we can. Let’s support each other in our efforts.
As the insightful Benjamin Franklin wrote in his 1744 publication Poor Richard’s Almanack: “Tart Words make no Friends: A Spoonful of Honey will catch more flies than a Gallon of Vinegar,” still provides guidance.
Yes, you can get what you want or need by being polite. It’s a good idea to be nice to others even if you disagree with them.
We can do this for the health of our community – because this is where we live, work, and learn to get along with each other.
