Maintain your roof this fall
Fall is one of the most important seasons for roof maintenance.
Your roof protects your home from heavy winter ice and snow – if it’s damaged and in need of repair, now is the ideal time to call your roofing professionals.
Our team at J. Gorski Construction is happy to assist you with your roofing repair and/or replacement needs.
We recommend the following tips for fall maintenance of your roof:
Trim your trees. As leaves begin to fall, you’ll see branches start to hang lower near your home. Trim any branches that hang too close so they don’t cause damage to your roof during storms. If you do this early, you can also minimize the amount of leaves that clog your gutters.
Keep your gutters clean. To ensure proper water flow from your roofline, keep your gutters clean. A clogged gutter will result in rainwater splashed back on the roof, which can lead to cracks, mold and damage. If you clean your gutters before leaves begin to fall, keep an eye on them throughout the season.
Get a pre-winter roof inspection. It’s a great idea to have a professional inspect your roof so you’re aware of any potential issues before they occur! While it might sound like common sense, it’s much easier to repair your roof in the fall without snow or ice to worry about. Don’t wait too long!
Invest in repairs if needed. If your roof inspector tells you that you’ll need repair work on a section of your roof, make sure you take care of it now. Small problems in fall might equal larger problems in the winter months. If you maintain your roof throughout the year, you won’t have to worry about excessive repair costs.
