The back to school season is a difficult time of year for many families – lists of supplies can be long and costly.
This year, those challenges are even more daunting given the increased financial pressures that many families are facing at this time.
Families with children in elementary school through high school spent an average of $789.90 per household on back to school clothing, supplies and technology items last year, according to a survey by the National Retail Federation.
You can help children return to school with pride and confidence by donating new backpacks and supplies or by making a monetary donation.
Groups or companies can even host their own back to school drive to support Family Service’s efforts. You can also volunteer to help organize supplies and fill backpacks.
Last year, thanks to generous donations from individuals, organizations, and corporations, Family Service was able to provide 302 children with new backpacks filled with supplies, lunch boxes and more.
All donated items go to Family Service clients, or children of clients between the ages of four- and 18-years-old, with demonstrated need.
