Once a girl has begun studying ballet, the day arrives when she becomes very excited to begin pointe work.
Before a student begins dancing on pointe however, there are a few factors that need to be considered in order to ensure a safe and positive outcome.
Dancing on pointe is a big step forward in a student`s training and it is important to be certain that she has the technique, strength and physical development necessary to be successful.
Before beginning actual pointe work, we at Rakova Ballet offer a Pre-Pointe class.
It is designed to prepare dancers to go on pointe. They will work on strengthening the entire foot and ankle as well perfecting the proper body placement that is essential for going on pointe.
This is not a pointe class and pointe shoes are not needed.
Students begin preparing the legs and feet for pointe work through a combination of pre-pointe appropriate physical therapy exercises and ballet technique.
After completing this class students will be able to take Beginner Pointe. Our list of classes includes many types of dance and a variety of skill levels.
Creative Movement, Pre-Ballet, Beginner ballet, Intermediate Ballet, Character Dance, Contemporary, Conditioning, provide training for all ages, toddler thru adult, and beginner through professional. We also offer private instruction.
Rakova Ballet provides dance education in positive and encouraging, yet disciplined environment where students gain an appreciation of dance, build self-confidence and accomplish their personal goals.
The school is located at 80 Second Street Pike, Southampton.
