Fitzpatrick reads to Neshaminy Kids Club as part of afterschool initiative

by Tianna G. Hansen

On May 12th, Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick made an appearance via Zoom for afterschool students in Neshaminy Kids Club.

Brian read aloud along with the children from this year’s Pennsylvania’s One Book selection, Daniel Finds a Poem, chosen by the Pennsylvania Child Care Alliance.

‘One Book, Every Young Child’ is a valuable program highlighting the importance of early literacy development in preschoolers and the significance of reading early and often to children, as well as engaging them in conversation and other activities around books.

Neshaminy Kids Club Summer Camp Director Chuck Inverso helped organize this afterschool event, which was streamed to all six Kids Club sites in Neshaminy School District.

Fitzpatrick is a native of the school district himself, and fielded questions from the children after reading. Things like, “what does a Senator do?”

A wonderful learning opportunity, and a way to spark discussions between kids, it’s encouraging to see innovative ways to engage and involve kids despite the ongoing safety restrictions of the pandemic.

Thanks Rep. Fitzpatrick for engaging the kids and our community!

Neshaminy Kids Club is a nonprofit organization serving children and parents with afterschool and summer camp programs.

During the pandemic, Kids Club met the needs of their community by hosting one of only two summer camp programs (located inside of a school district) available in the entire state of Pennsylvania.

Summer Camp 2021 is now full, but they are accepting kids for the wait list.
