In a recent satisfaction survey, 100% of resident and family respondents recommend The Birches at Newtown.
The personal and memory care community has plenty to offer seniors—generous floor plans, calendar-packed activities schedule, chef-prepared meals, and comprehensive wellness program.
“What’s not to love about The Birches? Everything I need is taken care of,” resident Carolyn Kuhlman exclaimed.
Before moving to The Birches, Kuhlman was living at home. “I couldn’t take care of the house; it became too much to manage on my own,” she said. Her family was also concerned that she was spending too much time alone, which only magnified as the pandemic ensued.
Her daughter, Kendra Marshall, noted that a recommendation from a family friend, whose husband was at The Birches, ultimately helped the family come to a decision.
“We really couldn’t be happier that we chose The Birches for my mom. She truly loves it there as well,” Marshall said. “This is never an easy decision, but we know in our hearts, it was absolutely the right one for her!”
Kuhlman has since kept a busy schedule, meeting with new friends, joining an exercise class, and regularly attending activities like karaoke, bingo, Scrabble, and trivia. Her fondest memory is a duet with the Director of Dining Services.
At The Birches, the staff takes great pride in their jobs, going above and beyond to make their residents feel appreciated and “at home.” Many residents and their families remark the staff’s incredible level of respect, courtesy, and attentiveness.
“The residents are my extended family. I do what I can to make meaningful connections and to fill their lives with joy,” Activity Director Loraine Myers said.
Moving to a senior living community is a big decision; ultimately, it can be the best decision you and your family can make. To schedule a tour, please call Julianne at 215-240-4829 or visit www.thebirchesatnewtown.com.

Kuhlman noted, “I’ve met so many wonderful people, and I’m extremely happy here. If you’re looking for a place to call home, don’t hesitate! It’ll be the best move you’ll ever make; I know my children made the right decision.”
