The Montessori School is a private, independent, family-oriented school community for children in preschool through kindergarten.
Two state-certified and Montessori-trained teachers guide students through activities designed to promote each child’s academic, social, and physical development.
It offers more than expected. Academic outcomes are impressive – the Montessori Philosophy is known for this.
Kindergarten graduates are usually reading, writing on lines, recognizing numbers through 9999, understand the decimal system, know geography language for the solar system and planet Earth, and a whole lot more.
The children love our animals – whose care promotes kindness and empathy.
We have one of each animal family represented. For mammals, we have a guinea pig. For birds, we have a parakeet. For reptiles, we have a water turtle. For fish, we have goldfish. For amphibians, we have fire-belly toads. For insects, we have crickets.
We have a great playground – to encourage physical development.
The playground is sand-covered with slides, bridge, ramp, and rock climbing stairs. There are sand toys, trucks, building blocks, and riding toys. The children can play soccer and basketball. Music can be played outside on the xylophone, drums, and the steel drum. There is an imaginary-play village.
Children learn how to be social – an important aspect of personality.
They learn how to interact, collaborate, and cooperate with one another in our setting of mixed-ages with children from almost 3 to 6 years old in the same classroom.
There is a sense of community – a feeling of connectivity is essential.
In normal times, there are family activities in which all family members may participate: community picnics, hayride, bowling, ice skating, family music night, mini-golf outing, service projects, and more.
The Montessori School is located at 501 W. Maple Avenue in Morrisville.
