Below are but a few examples to illustrate methods Patterson Farm Preservation, Inc. offers to Lower Makefield officials, residents and the surrounding communities to breathe new life and a renewed sense of PRIDE OF OWNERSHIP into a restored Satterthwaite House and Patterson Farm.
- Create content that educates, informs, inspires. Example: Cultural events, demonstrations, educational lectures, “Meet the Author – book signings” workshops, forums on a broad range of topics, wellness gatherings, leisure interests, etc. all designed to enlighten, engage and foster a positive outlook and appreciation for the blessings of life.
- Connect people with the land that sustains us. Sustainability is paramount to this and future generations! What better place to instill this value, and a respect for the land, than on the magnificent Patterson Farm? We will orchestrate small-scale gatherings featuring innovative and life-sustaining techniques researched or implemented on or off the farm, intimate Farm-to-Table experiences, backyard gardening instruction, Master Gardener lecturers, events highlighting natural sciences with focus on appreciation of regional ecological diversity, etc.
- Focus on stewardship activity of the historic structures. Bucks County by its historic nature is attractive to craftspeople that honor and uphold the traditions of manual workmanship that forged our country. Drawing on a rich knowledge base of local artisans we will conduct workshops where craftspeople can engage with and teach those who wish to carry on tradition. What better setting than a farm where examples of such craftsmanship are evident and in need of expert care? Our restoration will teach other restorationists!
Patterson Farm Preservation, Inc. offers the above list as an example to evaluate some possible techniques that will produce a sustainable income stream as well as high visibility. It is by no means complete.
