    Spotlight: Friends of Lake Afton

For Earth Week, let’s tidy up Lake Afton

Celebrate Earth Week by volunteering to help spruce up Lake Afton, Yardley’s town jewel, for the spring and summer months on Saturday, April 24th, from 8:00am to noon.

Friends of Lake Afton (FOLA), a 100% volunteer non-profit organization, has been taking care of Lake Afton since 1969 with the help and support of the community.

Lake Afton has been a treasured backdrop for many events and photos for more than 2 centuries.

More recently, Lake Afton has been a quiet source of comfort for many during this COVID pandemic.

Feel free to bring light gardening or landscaping tools. Adults and children all welcome to help.  COVID protocols apply.

See @FriendsOfLakeAfton on FB and Instagram or www.lakeafton.org for more information.

Unable to volunteer for our Spring Cleanup Day on April 24th but would like to help Lake Afton continue to look beautiful? Or would you like to help more?

FOLA needs donations to continue with our successful algae control. If we pause, even briefly, the ugly algae infestations and unhealthy water will reappear.

In 2015 FOLA hired Clean-Flo International to treat Lake Afton’s algae with natural, biological treatments.

The treatments are expensive, but have made Lake Afton beautiful again.

Donations can be made via donate button on our website (www.lakeafton.org), FB page, PayPal (Friends of Lake Afton), Venmo (FOLA Yardley) or by placing a check in the mail (FOLA/P.O. Box 529/Yardley, PA 19067).

    Thank you!

PHOTO CAP: Following a record number of visitors, an increase in volunteers at our Fall Clean-up Day 2020 allowed Lake Afton to look its best.
