CHECK OUT THE NEW BUCKSBLOGSPOT. HELP FOR BUCKS COUNTY BUSINESSES AND ECONOMIC RECOVERY – BUCKSBLOGSPOT

    Spotlight: Ben Manis Plumbing

Did you know oftentimes a leaking toilet goes undetected?

You may be experiencing an incredible loss of water every minute it continues, completely unaware until a leak test is conducted.

Every day a silent leak goes unnoticed can amount to as much as 300 gallons of water – three times the amount of water an average American uses in one day.

The professionals at Ben Manis Plumbing know wasted water equals higher bills, spending money on water you never used.

To help prevent high water bills, check your toilet for water passing from the tank into the bowl. An easy way to do this is to put a couple drops of food coloring (we recommend red) into the tank. Allow it to settle, then check to see if the color starts to appear in the bowl. If it does, it’s time to change your flapper.

The most common culprit of a leaking toilet is also the most difficult to detect: an ineffective flush valve system.

The flapper is supposed to form a watertight seal, but after a period of time it can deteriorate or become defective. This causes water to leak into the toilet bowl, silently.

A leaking toilet can also be caused by a broken or inadequately placed fill valve.

When the shut-off valve doesn’t completely close or the float is too high, the tank will have a continuous flow of water which enters the overflow tube.
