Lisa McPeak: A piano teacher with exceptional credentials

Not many local piano instructors have the professional experience and education that Newtown’s Lisa McPeak has attained. However, Lisa’s goal is not to make a professional pianist out of her students.

“I teach each of my students at their own pace and take them to whatever level they feel comfortable,” says Lisa. “My main objective is to help them become the best pianist they can be.” Lisa offers fun and calm virtual piano instruction to students at all levels, from beginner to advanced. She gives virtual lessons in the comfort of one’s own home.

Lisa began playing piano at age five and took lessons for a total of 18 years with world-renowned classical pianists Ruth Luty Campbell and Dr. David Sokoloff. In college, Lisa studied business and piano and later transferred to study psychology also.

Lisa was accepted to perform in “Allegro Vivo,” an International Chamber Music Festival in Horn, Austria. During her stay, Lisa had the privilege to take master classes with a famous Italian pianist and instructor.

In her early twenties, while residing in Bucks County, Lisa began her own private piano studio. She taught privately for a decade and a half and took a small break to raise her two children.  For four years, she was the district-wide piano accompanist and music education assistant for Hopewell Valley Regional School District in Hopewell, NJ.

At the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia in October of 2014, through Jacobs Music, Lisa had the honor to perform on Vladimir Horowitz’s world-famous Steinway concert grand piano during a benefit for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s music therapy program. This benefit helped raise money to buy a Steinway grand piano for the hospital’s lobby.

Lisa McPeak was awarded the Steinway & Sons prestigious Top Teacher Award five years in a row: 2016 through 2020. She was chosen out of 400 other PA and NJ piano teachers each year for this award.

Working as a piano selection consultant, Lisa has helped her clients and current students’ families find the perfect upright or grand piano to fit their budgets and homes. With decades of experience teaching, Lisa McPeak sets herself apart from other teachers with her high retention rate and remarkable progress of all her students.

Lisa, a Council Rock alumni, is on the Council Rock School District’s approved teachers list.
