We’re so glad to be in school
While some schools are trying to figure out how to be open in person, The Montessori School has been enjoying a school year where we have been with each other.
Our preschool through kindergarten age children are happily playing and working with one another in person.
*We Social Distance
In the beginning, we put squares on the floor to keep the children’s work mats far enough apart. We no longer have to do that. The children can now space themselves on their own. When we get in line, the children know how to use “social distance arms.”
At tables, the children can safely chat while they work and eat as they look through our plexiglass dividers.
*We Wear Masks
In the beginning, we thought the children would need mask breaks while we played outside. The children, however, never gave their masks a second thought and automatically wore them outside as well as inside our classroom.
*We Wash Hands
…and we wash hands and we wash hands. Washing hands has become an automatic and frequent activity. It starts when the children arrive at school in the morning. It happens after they finish each piece of work. We wash before and after we eat and play outside. We wash hands at the end of the day before we go home.
*We Can Breathe Safely
Our school has five air purifiers with HEPA filters and/or UV lights in our classroom and bathrooms.
*We Have Our Own Cohort
We have limited our classroom to our children and staff. No one else is allowed to enter or visit. Our Spanish and Music teachers do their classes on Zoom with the assistance of our in-school staff. We do our school tours on Saturdays or in the evenings.
The Montessori School is located at 501 W. Maple Avenue in Morrisville.
