Spotlight: BQ Basements & Concrete

Is your home ready for freezing temperatures?

Since 1997, BQ Basements & Concrete has been your local expert in basement and crawlspace waterproofing, foundation repair, and concrete lifting services. As your neighborhood foundation experts, we care about the health and safety of your home.

With bouts of extreme cold, it is important to understand how below freezing temperatures can affect your home and your family members inside!

Here is a list of things you can do to prevent frozen pipes in your home:

Leave the Faucet to Drip – The first thing you’ll want to do is turn on the faucet a bit so water can drip slowly. This helps relieve pressure in the pipes and keeps the water flowing. Even if water freezes, pressure won’t build up and rupture the pipes.

Leave the Heater On – A few units of electricity won’t compare to the cost of repairing your water damaged basement or crawl space after a pipe bursts. Try to keep the temperature above 50° F. This heat is enough to warm your pipes and prevent water on the inside from freezing.

Add More Insulation – Properly insulating your basement or crawlspace is essential. You could attempt to wrap the pipes themselves with fiberglass or foam rubber, but this will not solve the root of the problem.

If you feel your basement or crawlspace could benefit from a full inspection, experts at BQ Basements & Concrete can help inspect and repair any foundation or waterproofing concerns. Give us a call today at 215-709-6225.
