CHECK OUT THE NEW BUCKSBLOGSPOT. HELP FOR BUCKS COUNTY BUSINESSES AND ECONOMIC RECOVERY – BUCKSBLOGSPOT

    Spotlight: Sohl Foot & Ankle

I struggle to find the right tone for this spotlight entry. After almost a year of feeling the personal, social, and business effects of this pandemic, Sohl Foot & Ankle has survived. Sadly, not everyone can say that. I heard over the course of the last few months, at least one podiatry colleague has died from COVID-19, and a couple others have closed their offices. I also learned that several of my patients at a local assistive-living residency had fallen ill and passed.

My patients have shared their experiences with this horrible illness, how their families have been affected, or how their friends have fallen ill or worse.

I myself fell horribly ill in mid-November. I thought I had COVID-19. I was fatigued, coughing, fever, sweats. It lasted for three weeks. After several negative COVID-19 tests, chest x-rays, and blood work my physician confirmed I had Mono (mononucleosis). I didn’t catch it from anyone… it was reactivated likely due to stress (similar to what happens with chicken pox and shingles). Of course, you can’t blame anyone for being stressed in 2020. In fact, I missed the last spotlight entry because I was so sick at the time of the deadline.

Now Sohl Foot & Ankle turns toward 2021 with great optimism for a better year with more certainty. I was lucky enough to get the vaccine so I could do my part for this public health crisis, but that won’t stop us from providing a safe treatment environment for our patients. We won’t stop pre-screening our patients every day to check their health status before they arrive. We will keep offering telemedicine options for patients with podiatric issues that can be served without hands-on treatment.

If your local podiatry provider has closed their doors, please consider Sohl Foot & Ankle for your next podiatry visit. We will work hard to make your experience a positive one.
