How to keep Lake Afton algae free in 2021

Help Friends of Lake Afton (FOLA) keep Lake Afton algae free.

With a little help from our community, FOLA can continue to keep Lake Afton, Yardley’s town jewel, healthy and beautiful.

Who are the Friends of Lake Afton?

FOLA is a nonprofit organization committed to maintaining and preserving Lake Afton and its surrounding public areas for the community’s enjoyment since 1969.

Every year we depend on volunteers donating their valuable time to help improve the appearance of the Lake.

Financial donations are needed for more costly efforts to maintain the Lake’s health, which include:

  • The aggressive algae treatment regimen administered by Clean-Flo International;
  • A well-maintained aerator system that has created a healthy water environment;
  • Removal of large branches and tree limbs from the Lake;
  • Routine maintenance of the intake and output pipes to ensure a healthy water level in the Lake;
  • Routine landscaping costs including a spring and fall clean-up day;
  • Unanticipated costs that may arise.

In 2020 Lake Afton was algae-free, allowing it to become a quiet source of comfort for many during this COVID pandemic.

Lake Afton has been a treasured backdrop in many photos and memories for over two centuries.

Donations can be made via donate button on our website (www.lakeafton.org), FB page (Friends of Lake Afton) or by placing a check in the mail  (FOLA/P.O. Box 529/Yardley, PA 19067).
