GSA Gold Award Beautification Project benefits Senior Center

The James E. Kinney Senior Center struck gold when local resident Taylor Smith chose it to be the beneficiary of her perennial Giving Garden for her Girl Scout Gold Award Beautification Project.

A Gold Award is the highest achievement in Girl Scouting. Taylor researched, designed and solicited donations for the Giving Garden, with guidance from Girl Scout Director, Maggi Miller.

Taylor also recruited assistance from family and fellow Scouts for the initial construction and planting of flowers and plants for pollinators, along with a plan for maintaining the garden in the future.

If you visit the bocce court area, you will see colorful plants, a few flying friends in the pollinator garden, a hummingbird feeder, a solar fountain, a bee house, solar lantern and a ceramic garden sphere.

The Giving Garden relaxation recipe is to sit, watch and enjoy.
