Feel good food
The Red House in Yardley is a dream come true for owner and chef Tim Wheeler, who attended culinary school at the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York.
The new chef rebranded what used to be Lena’s Deli on Main Street with a new, full-fledged twist, while still delivering the high quality sandwiches the community had come to know and love.
Lena’s Deli menu has evolved from Italian style to a Contemporary American focus.
“We have a lot more to offer than just deli fare,” says Tim. “And it’s all food you can feel good about eating.”
Don’t look here for fast food. The hand-crafted sandwiches are very well worth the wait.
The kitchen prepares 95% of everything they serve from scratch, making their own stocks and sauces.
In the 10-foot smoker out back, Red House smokes and cooks all of their own meats. Smoked items include salmon, turkey, pastrami, brisket, ribs, chicken breast and pulled pork. Apple and cherry wood are the preferred smoking fuel.
“We smoke our own pastramis in house, our own briskets, our own barbecue. All of this stuff has been incorporated into our menu in not just a normal fashion,” says Tim.
But it’s not just about the meat. A large portion of their menu features vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options.
Decidedly not made in house, the Red House serves a rotating selection of 8 Bassetts “super premium” ice cream flavors. Philadelphia based Bassetts is one of America’s oldest creameries.
Tim moved to Yardley from Long Island 13 years ago, re-opened Fraunces Tavern, worked with Darrel Raymond at The Grand Havana Room and The POD, and David Burke at One CPS in the Plaza Hotel. He is proud to be part of Yardley community.
Red House is located at 35 South Main Street in Yardley, open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00am to 6:00pm.
Tim and his staff are looking forward to indoor Pop Up Dinners when it’s safe to resume. Pop Up Dinners feature 4-8 course food adventures at a fixed price. The carefully selected dishes are not on the regular menu. Limited seating; book well in advance. BYOB.
Catering, carry out and delivery options are offered. Most of their smoked items are available on the catering menu.
