Gorman Ruggiero lassos acting awards around the world
Gorman John Ruggiero, founder of local company World Theater of Children, is winning acting awards worldwide for his role in Calf Rope, the award-winning film by director Bradley Hawkins.
The film is the story of a championship calf-roper and his relationship with his grandson, based upon Hawkins’ own childhood.
This inspirational film has won over 70 awards and recently won 10 at the prestigious Wild Bunch Film Festival in Wilcox, Arizona, including Best Actor in a Modern-Day Western for Ruggiero.
The Hollywood Times wrote about Calf Rope, saying “…the most notable short film at the festival…starring Gorman Ruggiero, won 10 of the 13 awards it was nominated for, including the prestigious Best Actor in a Short Film award.”
Ruggiero, who has been busy producing original plays and musicals in China for the past five years, has recently appeared on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Mysteries at the Museum, and acted in other films, The Cure Game, and The Birth of Deceit.
He is developing a new film studio at Lake Luzerne, NY, where film artists can enjoy the lake and beautiful mountains as they develop their work.
Film directors are invited to visit the ranch and use it as a location for their films.
Calf Rope can be seen at The First Glance Film Festival at the Historic 1903 Theater in Phoenixville, PA on November 15th.

Ruggiero was best known locally as founder and director of World Theater of Children, based in Wycombe, PA, where he wrote and produced over 70 plays and musicals for child actors.
Ruggiero also gained recognition for his Communication Skills Process, a program he developed for over 35 years, used to improve the socialization of children on the autism spectrum.
A Master of Science in Psychology, Ruggiero developed his therapeutic work for these children by modifying acting techniques and utilizing current research into brain function and psychological development of children.
His programs will begin again as soon as the COVID-19 restrictions allow children’s groups to resume.
Ruggiero is currently rehearsing for the title role in The Gypsy Stage Company’s original play The Irish Wake of Paddy O’Toole, opening in March of 2021 at the McCool Theater in Quakertown.
