Grand opening of The Newtown School of Music is Sept. 20th
Providing outstanding private music lessons on all instruments and vocals, The Newtown School of Music is under new ownership by Sonny Facenda, an on-site teacher for over 30 years.
Mr. Facenda has degrees from both Trenton State and Villanova University in Performance and Music Education, with a major in Percussion Major and minors in Brass and Woodwind.
He performed with the Fabulous Coasters and is presently playing with the Rendition Big Band.
Sonny is currently the Band Director at Villa Joseph Marie High School and St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Grade School.
All teachers are specialists in their respective areas:
*Beth Vilsmeir – Woodwind specialist and highly esteemed Clarinetist, she served as Band and Musical Director of Holy Ghost Prep for almost 30 years. Beth received her MA from University of the Arts.
*George Vilsmeir – Brass specialist and a highly known French Horn player. He retired as the Bristol Band Director. George received his MA from University of the Arts.
*Francis Danis – Piano specialist and freelance performer. She received her BA in Music and Certified Special Education “Teaching of Children with Disabilities”.
*Rita Perez – Vocal specialist. She has been the Vocal Coach for 25 years at the Newtown School of Music. Rita studied Vocal and Acting at The Granoff Conservatory of Music with Master Russ Faith.
*Steve Heitlinger – Strings specialist (Violin and Viola). Steve has an MA in Music, performs with local orchestras and enjoys teaching.
*Kyle Perella – Strings specialist (Guitar and Ukulele). Kyle studied with some of the finest teachers in the area and performs actively throughout the local area, as well as with road bands.
During the month of September we are offering 1 Free Lesson on any instrument.
If you don’t have an instrument, one can be provided.
We are following all CDC protocols to reduce exposure to COVID-19 and the studio room is disinfected between each student.
Upon entrance, students and parents will have their temperature taken.
Students must use hand sanitizer before and after their lesson.
Masks must be worn at all times except when behind the Plexiglas for their lesson.
Parents have the option to wait in their car during the lesson, or if waiting in the store must wear a mask and sit at least six feet apart.
