Meals on Wheels of Central Bucks continues to deliver meals during pandemic

During the Covid-19 crisis, Meals on Wheels of Central Bucks County is continuing to provide meal delivery service to our homebound clients community members who are seniors, handicapped, convalescent, or otherwise challenged to prepare their own meals.

To ensure the health and safety of clients and delivery volunteers, they have implemented a few changes.

Instead of the usual daily delivery of a hot and cold meal, they are now delivering a week’s worth of frozen meals every Monday.

In addition, volunteers are wearing gloves, not coming in if they are experiencing any viral symptoms, and are maintaining as much physical distance as possible from clients. “Our first and only priority is to deliver food to our senior citizens who count on us, and to deliver it in a way that keeps them healthy and safe.” says Jim Edelmeyer, President of Meals on Wheels of Central Bucks. “Additionally, we are so grateful to have so many dedicated volunteers who continue to give their time throughout this crisis.”

They plan to return to their regular schedule of delivering a hot meal daily as soon as it’s safe to do so.

Established in 1972, Meals on Wheels of Central Bucks delivers nutritious meals to those in need in the communities of Doylestown, New Britain, Chalfont, Warrington, Warwick, Buckingham, Plumstead, New Hope, Solebury, Dublin, Bedminster, and Tinicum.

They deliver to over 60 clients a day.

Their normal service is to deliver a hot and a cold meal five days a week utilizing an extremely dedicated group of more than 250 volunteers.

To date, they have delivered over one million meals throughout Central Bucks County.
