Spotlight: St. Luke’s Episcopal Church

St. Luke’s Episcopal Church offers traditional worship in a historic church in Newtown.

All are welcome to attend.

Established in 1832, St. Luke’s is rich with history, evident when one visits its quaint and beautiful church.

St. Luke’s has a vibrant music program, comprised of a semi-professional adult choir and a Children’s Choir School, as well as visiting professional and young musicians.

The music program is directed by Choirmaster, Nicholas M. Mynyk. The Choir sings during the 10:00am choral mass on Sundays (from September to June) and at all principal liturgies on Holy Days.

The majority of the repertoire is based on European Choral Music with special emphasis on music from the Anglican Tradition.

The choir also frequently performs music composed by Handel, J. S. Bach, Mozart, Haydn, and Schubert with orchestral accompaniment. Several times a year the choir is joined by the professional Academy of St. Luke’s Chamber Orchestra to offer concerted Viennese Masses.

On Sunday, March 22nd at 2:00pm, the music program is offering a spring concert entitled, “Fit for the Queen.”

The program will feature talented music students from the Newtown area who have received PA State recognition at the Dorothy Sutton Performance Festival, and will include works by Vivaldi, Telemann, Rieding, and Handel.

A freewill offering will be accepted.

St. Luke’s offers many other programs for its parishioners and visitors some of which include: Sunday School, Choir Camp, Vacation Bible School, Prayer Shawl Ministry, and the Christmas Charity Bazaar which donates all proceeds to area charities.

We also offer a Food Pantry to local families in need.

Come visit us for a Sunday service at 8:00am (no music) or 10:00am (choir and traditional hymns).

We also have a Healing Mass at 10:00am on Wednesdays, and on Saturday mornings, there is Rosary at 8:00am, Morning Prayer at 8:30am, and Holy Eucharist at 9:00am.

On the fourth Saturday of the month St. Luke’s offers a Jazz Mass at 5:00pm.

Our door is always open to you!
