The American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 210 Doylestown, is an organization consisting of men and women whose spouses, siblings, parents, children, or grandparents served or are serving in the military during periods of conflict.
In the spirit of our motto, Service Not Self, the mission of the American Legion Auxiliary is to support the American Legion and to honor the sacrifice of those who serve by enhancing the lives of our veterans, military, and their families, both at home and abroad.
The Auxiliary fund-raising events have raised money to support several veterans and community Organizations.
We also sponsor scholarships for young women who are members of the Junior classes in our local high schools to allow them to attend Keystone Girls State in Harrisburg each summer.
Girls attending participate in a week-long, simulated government immersive learning experience.
This year, we are also sponsoring an Americanism essay contest for students in grades three to 12 entitled, “How can we address the health and well-being of our veterans, military, and their families.”
Winning essays will receive cash prizes and will be eligible for entry into the State and National contest.
The Unit also presents a gift basket to the first baby born In the New Year at Doylestown Hospital.
We sponsored both blood drives and clothing drives.
We are ever-present at Doylestown’s annual Memorial Day parade, handing out flags and selling “poppies for remembrance.”
Our fund-raising events include Dine and Donate nights at restaurants and an annual Valentines Day Dinner Dance with live music at the Legion Hall.
The Auxiliary is always looking for new members, as well as encouraging Junior membership.
We meet the third Sunday of every month, from September to June, at the American Legion Hall, Doylestown, at 1:00pm.
