Burns Pharmacy: Your community pharmacy under new ownership

by Tianna G. Hansen

Burns Pharmacy has been a staple of the community for many years, serving the Morrisville community and Bucks County since 1948.

The independent, full-service pharmacy recently changed ownership this past June to the registered pharmacist Purvish Patel, R.Ph.

Purvish moved to America when he was 22-years-old, after studying pharmacy in India and graduated from Campbell University in 2004.

He and his family moved to the Bucks County area to join their family and have enjoyed being part of the community for the past three years.

Purvish worked for 15 years in a community pharmacy as a pharmacy manager, with a dream to one day own a pharmacy such as Burns.

“I was looking for a pharmacy of my own,” said Purvish. “I didn’t want to rush it, wanted to go into it when the timing was right.”

Bob, the owner of Burns Pharmacy since 1977, ended up wanting to retire and Purvish stepped in.

“The transition has been great and I’m excited to be part of the community,” says Purvish. “Everyone has been so welcoming.”

The pharmacy has recently undergone advancements in its technology to stay up to date and be more user friendly, incorporating chip readers at their registers and a new computer system.

Purvish has great plans to renovate the interior of the pharmacy and update its appearance from the inside out within the next year.

He also plans to make the website more interactive and patient friendly.

Burns Pharmacy is staffed with friendly and knowledgeable people who offer prompt, professional service that includes private customer counseling if you’re looking for answers but don’t know where to turn.

Under its new ownership, Burns still offers all the great services they have for decades along with some new improvements and innovations.

Burns continues to have fax and copy services as well as personalized income tax and insurance information summaries.

They have an exciting new line of greeting cards which are new to the store, offering over 300 options for any greeting card needs – seasonal, humorous, and anything you’re looking for with just the right thing to say.

Medical equipment is available for rental or purchase from the pharmacy including wheelchairs, walkers, equipment for diabetic needs and more.

They now offer free, same-day delivery to their customers and to their patients for prescriptions and medical equipment, which is a wonderful benefit for customers who find it more difficult to make it to the pharmacy.

“Immunization is such a big part of what we do,” says Purvish. “Flu season is coming- we have high dose flu shots, shingles and pneumonia vaccines in stock.”

Purvish and Burns Pharmacy are proud to support many local community outreach initiatives and works to be a good neighbor through volunteer efforts in the community.

They look forward to caring for their customers and patients and serving all your pharmacy needs.

Check out Burns Pharmacy and welcome Purvish into the community at 82 North Pennsylvania Avenue, Morrisville.

They have two special offers which can be found on their website,

Now offering $2 off any $10 purchase (one coupon per person) when you print and bring to the pharmacy.
