Historic Morrisville Society invites all to dinner program on November 10th

Noted historian and author John A. Nagy will be the featured speaker at Historic Morrisville Society’s dinner program on November 10th at Summerseat, corner of Hillcrest and Legion Avenues in Morrisville, discussing the various Bucks County spies and smuggling rings that existed during the American Revolution.

The Revolutionary War was not fought by proclamations and battles alone. A major component of the war was the challenge of organizing military strategies over thousands of miles of battlefield. From the very beginning of the war, a complex network of spies, double agents, and traitors began to emerge in an effort to learn the plans of the enemy before they were enacted.

Mr. Nagy tells the tales of men and women who were spies and how they operated. The Revolutionary War spies program begins at 7:00pm and is free; the optional dinner costs $20 and begins at 6:00pm. Mr. Nagy will autograph copies of his books after his presentation.

Historic Morrisville Society lovingly maintains Summerseat, the historic home of Thomas Barclay, whose basement served as a prison for two British spies during the American Revolutionary War.

For additional information or to reserve a seat for the November 10th dinner and spies program, call Sharon Hughes at 215-295-1706 or Jane Murray at 215-295-3645.
