Salon In Vogue: Artistic professionals specializing in hair styling and coloring

Salon In Vogue by June Portnoy

Whether you’re looking for a classic or avant-garde hairstyle, or anything in between, you can get it all at Salon In Vogue, located in the heart of historic Washington Crossing.

This salon welcomes women and men of all ages. Its professional hair stylists are true artists who will create the best look for you.

Carol Lipson, a 30-year veteran to the salon industry, is truly a hands-on business owner. She works daily with her team of talented and experienced stylists, Jenny Lynn Santoro and Sheila Adamczyk, to ensure a warm, friendly and personable atmosphere.

“We take the time to listen to each client, so that we have a clear understanding of what you’re looking for,” says Carol. “We give each of our clients individual attention and stay with them from the beginning to the end of their service. You will not be handed off to various staff members during your appointment.”

These stylists become your personal consultants as they discuss your options. Their artistic talent is apparent when they assess your facial features and then create a unique hairstyle and color that will maximize your natural attributes as well as dramatically improve your appearance.

Clients appreciate this extra attention and are never rushed to make a decision. Most importantly, they leave feeling completely satisfied with their new look.

Two of Salon In Vogue’s stylists are color experts, and have over 20 years of color experience.

“We are constantly changing our products as technology changes so that we can ensure that we achieve up-to-date looks while keeping your hair in its optimal condition,” states Carol. “We are now using Kaaral, an Italian color company, because it has proven to create maximum shine, beautiful color intensity, and long lasting results for our clients.”

The salon also uses Schwarzkopf and Natrique, a natural organic color line that is a gentler ammonia-free hair product.

With the holidays around the corner, schedule an appointment for an up-do or formal hair styling to look your best during a festive party or event.

Salon In Vogue is currently conducting a three-month test market study on Amla, a natural extract that has been shipped directly from India.

“People in India use Amla to thicken and darken their hair, so this could be an ideal product for anyone with thinning hair problems,” says Carol.

Provided this test study is successful, Amla will be available to Salon In Vogue customers beginning this spring.

Also this spring, Salon in Vogue will host special interest garden party events. Jenny Lynn, who recently took a dog training session in California with well-known dog behavior specialist, Cesar Millan, is excited to share what she learned during “Tales of the Dog Whisperer.”

Jenny will also offer “Blow Drying 101” to provide helpful tips on how to professionally blow dry your hair.

Psychic, Paige Vinson, will be on-site for Tarot card readings during a third garden party event. A sign-up sheet will be available in the salon for these events.  Everyone is welcome.

“We may be a small salon in size, but we’re a small space with a big heart,” says Carol. “We try to make each of our clients feel important because each of them is!”

To schedule an appointment at Salon In Vogue, located at 1075 River Road (next to the post office), call 215-321-8900. You’ll receive 20% off of your first visit.

Hours are Tuesdays and Fridays from 10:45am until 6:00pm, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:00am until 8:00pm and Saturdays from 9:00am until 4:00pm.

You don’t have to travel all the way to New York to find a posh salon with creative hair stylists who offer cutting edge hairstyles and colors. You can find this type of upscale salon with innovative staff right in your own neighborhood at Lisa’s Beauty Parlour, new to Penndel.

“We are a high-end hair boutique that doesn’t charge high-end prices,” says salon owner Lisa Morganti. “Plus, we offer an unpretentious, welcoming atmosphere where you can be yourself.”

The salon is located in a restored Victorian home, giving you that vintage feel.

“We pride ourselves in creating an environment in which you can relax and feel at home,” says Lisa.

Lisa has traveled all over the country perfecting her hairstyling skills by training with legendary hairstylist Vidal Sassoon; updo king Martin Parsons; and attending the award-winning Aquage MasterClass Academy.

She brings all of her training, along with 12 years of hairstyling experience to her salon.

This salon specializes in hair coloring. All hairstylists are experts in working with innovative hair colors, giving you a unique look that you feel comfortable with.  “Individuality is our mantra,” says Lisa.

Although hairstylists are experienced in creating all the latest hair colors and styles, they are also skilled in providing traditional haircuts and coloring for women and men of all ages.

In addition, Lisa’s Beauty Parlour offers texture treatments, permanent and temporary hair extensions, perms, Keratin hair straightening treatments, highlights, waxing and even straight shaves for men.

This salon also features on-site and off-site wedding, prom and formal occasion hair styling.

“After only being open for two months, we have already done four bridal parties,” says Lisa.

In keeping with the elegance of this boutique, Lisa serves mimosas, along with a beautifully prepared food tray, to wedding party guests while they have their hair done at her salon. And if you can’t come to Lisa’s Beauty Parlour on your big day, its hair stylists will come to you!

The salon has a makeup artist on staff, so ask about its makeup and hair packages for bridal parties. The makeup artist can airbrush your makeup or apply it traditionally.

If you’re getting your hair colored, you’re entitled to a complimentary makeup consultation. Plus, with the holidays coming up, Lisa’s Beauty Parlour is giving you a chance to look your best by offering you 20% off of a makeup application when you come for an upstyle on Christmas Eve Day and New Year’s Eve Day.

Also, the salon is now offering a Grand Opening Special consisting of a haircut, color and highlights for just $96; nearly a $50 discount from its regular price.

Lauren Marie Salon opens in Hulmeville

Lauren Marie Salon

by June Portnoy

On September 1st, Lauren Marie Salon at Hulmeville opened its doors, becoming the only hair salon in Hulmeville. This family-friendly salon caters to women, men and children, specializing in hair cut, color and highlights services, smoothing treatments, formal styling and facial waxing.

The salon was established by Lauren Marie Richards, a hair stylist of 13 years. She trained in New York and Los Angeles and has worked at hair salons in Bucks County.

However, Lauren always dreamed of opening her own salon in a small town, and when space became available at 3 Hulme Street., she knew it was the right time and place.

Lauren is currently the sole stylist on staff.

“I have no interest in becoming a large salon,” says Lauren. “I plan to remain small, so I can provide personalized attention to each of my clients. I want my clients to feel like part of my extended family.”

Lauren has created a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere at her salon where people feel like they are walking into a living room with a couple of styling stations.

“My goal is for everyone to feel welcome. This is an unpretentious salon where people can be themselves without feeling intimidated.”

Most importantly, Lauren strives to listen carefully to what her clients want to ensure they leave “loving it.”

“I never pressure my clients to wear their hair a certain way or buy a particular product,” says Lauren. “My goal is to listen, educate, and provide the service requested. In doing so, the client will receive exactly what they want.”

Likewise, Lauren won’t assume that her clients want the same look that they requested during their previous visit. Instead, she takes the time to evaluate their hair, review their previous visit, and discuss their options.

The initial feedback of Lauren Marie Salon has been nothing but positive. Virtually all first-time clients have returned, made an appointment to return, or referred a friend.

Lauren offers a referral service where you get $15 off a hair cut or $20 off hair coloring on your next visit if you refer a new client to the salon.

Throughout the year, Lauren will offer many promotions, discounts and special events to spread the word that her salon is open.

“I want you to come in and experience this salon for yourself,” says Lauren.

Come to the salon on October 21st for its Pik-a-Pumpkin Event. Pick a pumpkin and underneath, you will find a discount off of services or you’ll win a free product.

Every Tuesday in October, Lauren Marie will hold Model Calls. Receive extensive discounts on any service at the salon if you allow Lauren to use your before and after photo for social media purposes, such as her website or Facebook page.

For more information or to receive the monthly newsletter, including the calendar of events and specials, visit www.LaurenMarieSalon.com or call 215-741-1222.

Also, “like” Lauren Marie Salon on Facebook and view previous and future events and promotions.

Regular hours are Mondays, 10:00am until 6:00pm, Tuesdays, noon until 8:00pm, Wednesdays through Fridays, 10:00am until 8:00pm, and Saturday, 8:00am until 4:00pm.

From now through the end of the year, the salon will be open Sundays by appointment only from 10:00am until 6:00pm.

Millenium Profile by June Portnoy

You don’t have to travel far to receive a day of beauty, relaxation and rejuvenation. The professional, experienced staff at Millennium Salon & Spa in Holland is here to indulge your every need right in your own community.

Millennium might appear small from the outside, but once inside, you’ll discover the large diversity of services, products and even clothing it has to offer.

Lucy Shursky, born in the Ukraine, brings 39 years of experience to Millennium, which she established 11 years ago. She and her professional hair stylists offer contemporary, traditional and European hair styling for men and women.

“We’ll provide you with any hair style, colors or highlights you request,” says Lucy.

Millennium also offers Brazilian Keratin hair treatment, hair extensions and updos for special occasions.

The salon welcomes Ariella to its staff this month. She’s an up-and-coming stylist specializing in permanent hair extensions, a new technique in this industry. She’s also available for color, cuts, highlights and updos.

Come to Millennium to have your hair done, or stay and be pampered from head to toe. Mila, a licensed cosmetologist, masseuse and manicurist, provides European and Swedish massages, as well as reflexology.

She also does full body waxing, including Brazilian waxing, for both men and women.

All waxing is done in a private room. Manicures and pedicures are also done in a private area for your comfort.

Also, come to Millennium to have your eyebrows colored, your eyelashes tinted or eyelash extensions added. Makeup artists Veronica and Irene are on-staff to show you which makeup colors work best for you.

In addition to traditional makeup, they also apply airbrush makeup. You can purchase their makeup at Millennium.

“Veronica and Irene use Shira Skin Care from Israel because it offers product lines for every kind of skin, and we’ve had nothing but positive results from these products,” says Lucy.

Schedule an appointment with Veronica or Irene to do your makeup for weddings, proms or any other special events.

Still another service offered at Millennium is European facials. Plus, this spa is currently running a Fall Skincare Special, consisting of Microdermabrasion for just $57, as opposed to its regular price of $120.

It’s being offered by Valentina, a facial aesthetician with 40 years experience.

“Microdermabrasion is the accelerated removal of the top layer of skin,” explains Lucy. “It’s ideal for eliminating fine lines, sun damaged skin, age spots and acne scarring.”

Millennium also sells clothing, shoes, wigs, hair extensions, plus custom made and sterling silver jewelry.

“We import almost all of our clothing and accessories from Europe because we want to provide you with the highest quality and most unusual, fashionable merchandise,” says Lucy.

Ask about Millennium’s prices for a Day of Beauty, consisting of a facial, manicure, pedicure, massage, haircut and makeup consultant, plus a complimentary lunch. It makes a great gift for the holidays.

In addition, gift certificates for various amounts are also available.

Despite the many luxurious services offered at Millennium, it is run as a friendly, welcoming salon and spa where you can come and be yourself in a comfortable atmosphere.

Millennium, located at 295 Buck Road in the Pheasant Valley Shopping Center in Holland, offers flexible scheduling, open seven days a week.

Appointments are required Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays, but walk-ins are welcome the rest of the week.

For more information or to schedule an appointment, call Millennium Salon & Spa at 215-953-9300.

Hair Fantasy: Your neighborhood salon where everyone knows your name

Hair Fantasy by June Portnoy

With so many hair salons in the area, how do you decide which one to choose?

You can select one of those large, upscale salons with all the bells and whistles, but they can make you feel more like a number than a person.

Then there are those inexpensive salons that enable you to walk in and get a haircut right then and there, but who knows what your hair will look like when you’re done letting inexperienced stylists work on your hair.

And then there’s Hair Fantasy in Langhorne, established 33 years ago. It offers the best of all worlds.

Hair Fantasy combines a casual, friendly staff that take the time to get to know you, with experienced, educated stylists who offer very reasonable prices.

“We are a neighborhood salon where everyone here knows your name, much like that classic TV show, ‘Cheers,’” says manager, Sandy Queppet. “Our customers come for a personalized visit where they enjoy catching up with their stylist as they would a close friend.”

Since all hair stylists at Hair Fantasy have been on staff at least 20 years, customers truly develop an on-going relationship with them. Likewise, many customers are regulars who have been coming to Hair Fantasy since it first opened over three decades ago.

Unlike some hair salons where you feel like you have to dress up to fit in, at Hair Fantasy you’ll receive a genuinely warm greeting regardless of what you wear. This is a family-oriented salon that caters to women, men and children of all ages.

You can feel confident that your hair is in competent hands at Hair Fantasy. All stylists have at least 15 years experience.

Premier color bar and hair salon opens in Newtown

Primary Colors Salon by June Portnoy

Have you ever noticed that every hair salon you go to typically has the same appearance and the same hair coloring mixture routine? They have styling chairs lined up in front of mirrors and when it comes time to have your hair color mixed, your stylist disappears into a back room while you wait for her to return with the mysterious formula. But that’s all changed now that Primary Colors Salon recently opened in Newtown.

“What sets us apart is that we are the only hair salon in Bucks County to have a color bar,” says owner Annalisa Alessandro Reavy.

So, what’s a color bar, you might ask? It looks like a bar you’d find at a pub or restaurant, but it’s stocked with a large variety of hair colors. As opposed to bartenders, behind this bar you’ll find Primary Colors Salon’s own Color Mixologists mixing up your hair color formula.

“Our color bar offers customers a front row seat experience on how your personal hair color formula is prepared,” says Annalisa. “Your color is not mixed behind closed doors at this salon. It’s done right in front of you, so you can actually see what is being put into your custom formula.”

The color bar is the heartbeat and focal point of this salon. It is set in front of windows, so you are not forced to stare at mirrors everywhere.

Annalisa brings over two decades of experience in hair styling and coloring to her salon. She has been a Matrix Artistic Educator and Colorist for the past 18 years. You might remember her from Salon 532, where she worked for 25 years prior to opening this salon.

Annalisa has studied under the best in the hair industry with names like Vidal Sassoon, Tony & Guy, Graham Webb, Patrick Cameron, Martin Parsons Matrix Global Academy and more!

“Hair coloring is my specialty and my trademark,” says Annalisa. “It’s what I want to be known for in Bucks County.”
