The Bucks County Choral Society (BCCS), under the direction of artistic director Thomas Lloyd, presents Giuseppe Verdi’s Requiem, considered by many to be the composer’s masterpiece, with internationally acclaimed soloists and the Riverside Symphonia on Sunday afternoon, April 7th, at our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Doylestown.
For this rare Bucks County performance, the 100-voice Choral Society and the top-flight instrumental musicians of the Riverside Symphonia, are joined by outstanding vocal soloists, including soprano Barbara Shirvis, mezzo-soprano Suzanne DuPlantis, tenor William Davenport, and baritone Stephen Powell.
“BCCS is pleased and proud to be able to present this masterwork, with outstanding vocal soloists and the best orchestra in the area,” notes Lloyd. “Verdi’s Requiem is truly one of the high points of Western classical and choral music, and our new home at Our Lady of Guadalupe has given us a tremendous environment in which to perform and appreciate this tumultuous, deeply moving, spiritual music.”
