Pat Brofman is YMCA Volunteer Of The Year

Morrisville YMCA Advisory Board member Pat Brofman, of Morrisville, was awarded the YMCA Volunteer of the Year award on May 15th at the Lower Bucks Family YMCA 2009 Annual Meeting, Strong Kids Campaign Celebration and Recognition of Volunteers Luncheon at the YMCA Fairless Hills branch. Since being appointed to the Board, Pat has been a vital presence at Community Day, Healthy Kids Day, the flea and farmers markets, Halloween Happenings and Winterfest events. She has donated school supplies and candy for Halloween treats and has given endlessly of her time. If there is something that needs to be done, Pat is the first person to offer assistance. Pat has also been involved in other community activities. She was co-chair of the Morrisville 200 Committee, which organized the bicentennial events for Morrisville's celebration. She is responsible for the statue of Robert Morris in the Robert Morris Plaza instead of a clock tower (to this day the words "clock tower" put her into a dither!). She was also a leader in selling engraved paving stones honoring loved ones surrounding the statue. During this time Pat served as the President of the Historical Morrisville Society and while she was working on the bicentennial, she obtained grants for the relining of chimneys at Summerseat, a steel support beam for the sagging second floor ballroom, a new roof, and the completion of the lower level art gallery from a leaky, moldy basement. Many of Pat's family heirlooms have been displayed at Summerseat and enjoyed by thousands of visitors. Pat served on the Community Advisory Panel (CAP Board) at Air Products for seven years until their plant relocation in 2008. Pat also served on the Morrisville Recreation Board for many years and currently serves on the "Residents That Care" Board. Angel Food Ministry is one of the ways that Pat looks after those less fortunate than herself. She places orders and then two weeks later picks up and delivers the orders. Many times Pat has dropped off boxes of "angel" food to families who could not afford to pay for their groceries, becoming their secret benefactor. No one Pat knows will ever go hungry! Congratulations to Pat, for being a wonderful friend and volunteer for the Morrisville YMCA!
