Mon., May 8, 7:30-9:00pm – Newtown Historic Association presents: “200 Years of Newtown Quakers” at Newtown Friends Meeting, 219 Court St., Newtown. Newtown Friends Meeting was formed in 1815, and the meetinghouse opened two years later. NHA member Bill Heinemann, a member of the Meeting and a resident of Newtown Borough, will talk about the history of Quakerism in the area prior to creating Newtown Meeting, why that didn’t happen sooner, and the important role of Edward Hicks.
